　　Silence Is Gold

　　When we talk of the famous proverb "Silence is gold", we should not simply label it as right or wrong, but explore it in depth.

　　當(dāng)我們談到“沉默是金”這一著名的諺語(yǔ)時(shí)，我們不應(yīng)該簡(jiǎn)單地把其標(biāo)注為正確或錯(cuò)誤，而應(yīng)該進(jìn)行深入探討。

　　This proverb is especiaUy true under several situations. First, if we have made a promise not to let out a secret, we should always keep silent. Second, we should avoid talking over facts or statistics of which we are not sure. Third, whenever we are expressing our ideas， brevity is the soul of wit and talking too much will always lead to faults and mistakes.

　　這一諺語(yǔ)在一些情況下尤其如此。首先，如果我們作出了承諾要保守秘密，我們應(yīng)該始終保持沉默。第二，我們應(yīng)該避免談?wù)撐覀儾淮_定的事實(shí)或統(tǒng)計(jì)數(shù)據(jù)。第三，無(wú)論什么時(shí)候我們表達(dá)自己的想法時(shí)，言貴簡(jiǎn)潔，說(shuō)話太多往往會(huì)導(dǎo)致錯(cuò)誤。

　　Nevertheless, there are also some exceptions. If we find out a flaw in other's speaking or writing, we should not hesitate a moment to point it out. And to friends or acquaintances seeking advice, we should feel free to help them.

　　不過(guò)，也有一些例外。如果我們?cè)谒�人的說(shuō)話或?qū)懽髦邪l(fā)現(xiàn)了一個(gè)錯(cuò)誤，我們應(yīng)該毫不猶豫地指出來(lái)。在朋友或熟人征尋意見(jiàn)時(shí)，我們應(yīng)該隨時(shí)幫助他們。

　　In a word, we can draw the conclusion that in most cases "silence is gold", but in certain circumstances, talking is the right choice. (155 words)
