　　隨著經濟的快速發展和國際地位的提升，中國逐漸成為各國留學生的熱門留學目的地。到2020年，中國將力爭成為亞洲最大的留學目的國。除了漢語之外，中國藝術、飲食、民俗、中醫(Traditional Chinese Medicine)等頗具中國特色的專業也深受金發碧眼的洋學生們熱捧。同時，中國為進一歩擴大外國留學生規模，不斷增加政府獎學金的投入;另一方面，為吸引更多優秀的國際生源，各院校也增設了不少獎學金項目。
