　　The table above clearly reflects the statistics of traffic accidents happening in a Chinese city. According to the table, in 2005, the traffic accidents in the Chinese city still failed to arouse concerns of both drivers and pedestrians。

　　The number of accidents that resulted from drivers turning left without due care increased 10 percent to 608, which is highlighted on the first row of the table. Accidents related drivers driving under the influence of alcohol enjoyed the greatest rise, a 15 percent rise. In comparison, those pedestrians who cross roads carelessly also led to 401 accidents. By analyzing these factors displayed in the diagram, we may draw the conclusion that both drivers and pedestrians have little respect for traffic regulations。

　　As has been mentioned above, countermeasures should be taken immediately so as to reverse the grim situation. First of all, relevant laws and regulations should be established to severely punish those who violate traffic rules openly, be they drivers or pedestrians. Furthermore, a widespread education campaign should be launched to inform citizens that proper rules for them are of benefit to public safety. Only by doing so can we exist in a harmonious and disciplined society. (196 words)

　　The diagram above clearly illustrates that dramatic elevation has occurred in the recruitment of Master of Engineering (ME) in the past seven years. According to the statistics given above, we may conclude that the recruitment of ME was on a steady rise from 1998 to 2004. In 1998, the number was at a low level, only about 2,500. Surprisingly, it reached to more than 35,000 in 2004 within no more than seven years。

　　Some driving factors that contribute to the above-mentioned changes may be summarized as follows. First and foremost, China has become particularly active in manufacturing, which leads to the increasing demand of qualified engineers. In addition, the development of job market on the whole cannot keep pace with the expansion of college graduates, which obliges a large number of students to stay on campus for another three years to get better prepared for their career. Last but not least, working pressure is another reason. Taking all these factors into account, we may predict that with speedy development of our society, the number of recruitment of ME will keep growing in the forthcoming decade。

　　On the other side of the coin, however, this tendency may bring about a good many problems, such as the waste of talent. It is necessary for us to take effective measures to ensure this situation doesn’t get out of hand, and encourage students to choose majors in which theoretical knowledge and practical skills will be demanded in the job market. 　　The Increase in the Number of Chinese Traveling Abroad

　　As can be clearly observed from the chart above, the trend of Chinese traveling abroad is going up these years. In the past three years, the number of Chinese traveling abroad was on a steady rise. According to the chart, the number increased from 7.5 million in 1999 to 10 in 2000 and to 12.1 million in 2001.

　　I assume that there are at least three main/primary/fundamental reasons/causes/factors accounting for the above mentioned changes. First and foremost, the changes are primarily concerned with the income of Chinese. They are better off and can afford to travel abroad. What’s more, they have a lot to do with the development of the travel industry in China. Travel agencies in growing/increasing/expanding/mounting numbers are attracting more people to join in their tours abroad. Last but no the least, the changes are closely related to our policy of opening up to the outside world。

　　From what has been discussed so far, it is obvious that the rise in the number of Chinese traveling abroad is of great concern to our life. It reflects the improvement of our living standards and the development of our economy. (190 words)

　　In the new millennium, text message is set to become an essential feature of individuals’ life. It comes no surprise that a vast majority of people are indulged in sending and receiving short message, considering the great pleasure and convenience it brings about. Still, there are some others viewing text message as a curse of modern life, for it cause extra waste and do harm to our health。

　　Text messaging, as a means of communication, shortens the distance between people, which, many believe, is one of its apparent advantages. By sending regards to them via short message, we can not only maintain contact with our friends and relatives, but share pleasure with them as well. Another benefit obtained from text message is the convenience for people to keep up with the latest information they need whatever they go and whatever they do. For instance, a large number of people have subscribed to various short-message services ranging from weather forecast to fashion news and enjoy them very much. Accordingly, with text message people’s daily life will be greatly enriched。

　　Truly, apart from those benefits, text messaging might have its drawbacks. But it is my view that its negative impacts depend, to a large extent, on how it is used. As a consequence, if we make proper use of it, short message will never do us more harm than good. (228 words)

　　As is symbolically portrayed in the pictures, with the speedy social and economic development, the number of fishes has sharply decreased. In one picture, there were various kinds of fish and only one fishing-boat in 1900. On the contrary, in 1995 there was only one fish, but many fishing-boats。

　　The purpose of the pictures is to show us that due attention has to be paid to the decline of ocean resources. Owing to over-fishing, the number of fishes has obviously shrunk. If we let this situation go as it is, we do not know where fish will be in the forthcoming future. By that time, our environment will suffer a great destruction。

　　Hence, it is imperative/necessary for us to take drastic measures. For one thing, we should appeal to our authorities to make strict laws and regulations to control commercial fishing. For another, we should enhance the awareness of people that the ocean resources are vital to us. Only in this way can we protect our ocean resources.
