　　【解析】：根據上下文可以在這里加上定語，信息技術行業中的許多日常工作;

　　參考譯文：(信息技術行業的)許多日常工作對環境造成了意想不到的危害。

　　第三句：A Google search can leak between 0.2 and7.0 grams of C02, depending on how many attempts are needed to get the “right”answer.

　　【解析】：dependingon“取決于”，前面有一個范圍，所以這里可以在翻譯的時候應該在取決于前加上具體的數值。Attempts在這里翻譯為“搜索”。

　　【參考譯文】：每用谷歌搜索一次就會釋放出0.2克至7.0克的二氧化碳，具體的數值取決于使用者需要搜索多少次才能得到“正確”答案。

　　第四句：To deliver results to its users quickly,then, Google has to maintain vast data centers around the world, packed withpowerful computers.

　　【參考譯文】：為了把搜索結果迅速傳輸給用戶，谷歌不得不在全世界范圍內建立大型數據中心，并配備大功率計算機。除了排放大量二氧化碳，這些計算機還釋放許多熱量，因此數據中心還需要良好的空調環境，而這又會更多的能量。

　　第五句：While producing large quantities of C02,these computers emit a great deal of heat, so the centers need to be wellair-conditioned, which uses even more energy?

　　【解析】：在英語一的翻譯中，經常見到的while表示轉折，KK教授多次和考生們提到過。While在這里表示“與此同時”，意味“除了…”

　　【參考譯文】：排放大量二氧化碳，這些計算機還釋放許多熱量，因此數據中心還需要良好的空調環境，而這又會消耗更多的能量。

　　第六句：However, Google and other big tech providers monitortheir efficiency closely and make improvements.

　　【參考譯文】：不過，谷歌和其他大型技術供應商已在密切監控其數據中心作效率并做出改進。

　　第七句：Monitoring is the first step on the road toreduction, but there is much more to be done, and not just by big companies.

　　【參考譯文】：監控只是減排的第一步，需要做的還有多，而且這不單單是大公司的事情。
